  I read Mathew, and I loved it, Now I want to buy the New Testament but I cannot do it via Paypal, because there are some restriction in my country (Colombia). I have google payments, and an Amazon account. How can I buy my Bible as Poetry copy? Are you planning to sell it in Kindle format?

  Publisher's comment: Google doesn't yet offer its payment system to businesses in Australia (where we are based). But Google says it won't be long. We will offer it as soon as Google sets up its Australian payment system.

  We are looking at a Kindle edition, but if it happens that will be several months away. The PDF edition available now for download can be viewed on the latest Kindle reader.

  Very engrossing, enjoyable, informative and easy reading. Not such a 'quick' read though as the notes kept calling for my attention. A simply worded version such as this will get across the message of God's love and His plan for our lives to anyone who can read English. If scholars can benefit also, then this is a bonus!

  This version claims to have no bias. I am sorry, but every Bible translation will have bias. It is impossible to write an unbiased translation. There are too many words that must be translated in light of the thought of the author. One example of this is found in Daniel 9:27.

  Publisher's comment: Sorry, Alex, but you seem to be the one who has the bias. In fact, you seem to have made your criticism without even reading the translation to see if you can find any bias in it. You give as an example Daniel 9:27. But that's in the Old Testament and so far we've only published the New Testament.

  If you had read the translation, Alex, you could have found a note on page 5 under the heading "An Unbiased Translation." It says that the Bible as Poetry "is designed to cater for many schools of thought. If there are two different legitimate translations possible for a verse, the Bible as Poetry presents both. One is in the text, the other is in the right-hand margin."

  So, yes, it is possible to be unbiased. And we believe that the Bible as Poetry is as close to an unbiased translation as is humanly possible.

  My 11 year old daughter and I took turns reading the gospel of Matthew from The Bible as Poetry. We both enjoyed the experience and we both learned much from this wonderful translation.

  1. The Bible as Poetry is not an interpretation, but a translation. It was appreciated that the meaning of the original text was not altered to suit a certain theological bias.

  2. My daughter and I both enjoyed the easy-reading language. We also found it amazing to see how the verses were cleverly arranged to reveal that they were actually scriptural poetry.

  3. Reading the book of Matthew was not difficult as the language was easy to understand - however, reading the book of Matthew was not a speedy process! While reading the margin's footnotes and cross-references which accompany the text in the Bible as Poetry, we found ourselves detouring to confirm the cross-referenced Bible texts in Strong's concordance and Bible commentators' writings. When our checking was over, we wondered how we had managed to miss all this extra meaning previously.

  3. After reading the gospel of Matthew in the Bible as Poetry, I now realise how absolutely necessary it is for the Bible writings to be placed in their original cultural context. Having the culture of the day explained in the margin's footnotes often clarified or even altered my understanding of scripture.

  4. It is vital to understand the impact of culture on any piece of writing; how could it be any less vital to know the cultural setting when trying to understand scripture? The Bible as Poetry translates the language of the gospel of Matthew, but it also places that translation within its authentic culture. The cultural setting is vital. Words might be accurately translated, but if not referenced to the cultural setting, they might be taken out of context, and thus cannot be considered a exact interpretation of the author's original intention. The Bible was meant to be understood, and this is made ultimately more possible by the Bible as Poetry.

  5. In the Bible as Poetry, the original language is demonstrated to contain much richer meanings than previously realised - some intentional double meanings, some humor - including sarcasm - and more. That was a real surprise to us!

  6. I consider that The Bible as Poetry is superior to other translations because detailed cultural factors are supplied in the margin's footnotes. This extra information provides a more accurate understanding of the original Bible author's intentions.

  7. Prior to reading the Bible as Poetry, I was unaware of the richness of the gospel of Matthew. The gospel of Matthew (taken from the Bible as Poetry) is a book that I want to re-read - and that must be a sure sign of a very successful translation.
